Chocolate Cake

Easy chocolate cake, shamelessly stolen from elsewhere

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
265 grams all purpose flour
55 grams cocoa powder
6 grams (1.5 tsp) baking powder
6 grams (1.5 tsp) bi-carb soda
440 grams caster sugar
4 grams (1 tsp) salt
2 eggs
250 ml milk
125 ml (108 grams) vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
250 ml boiling water

Method

  1. Heat oven to 180 degrees celsius / 160 degrees fan forced.
  2. Grease and line a 21cm cake tin
    • note that the mixture is extremely runny, so if using a springform pan, fill gaps with butter and put a pan underneath to catch drips
  3. In a large bowl, sift and combine
    • 265 grams flour
    • 55 grams cocoa powder
    • 6 grams baking powder
    • 6 grams bi-carb soda
    • 4 grams salt
    • 440 grams sugar
  4. Whisk in the following until lump free
    • 2 eggs
    • 250 ml milk
    • 125 ml (108 g) vegetable oil
    • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  5. Whisk in 250 ml boiling water
  6. Pour into cake tin
  7. Cook for 40 minutes or until skewer comes out cleanly
