Apple Crumble
Easy delicious apple crumble. Great idea if granny smith apples are readily available.

1 kg | Granny Smith Apples, peeled and cut into large (2cm) cubes |
1 tbsp | flour |
1/3 cup | white sugar |
2 tbsp | lemon juice |
1/2 tsp | butter, melted |
1 tsp | cinnamon |
Topping
Quantity | Ingredient |

1 cup | oats (rolled or quick cooking is fine) |
1/3 cup | brown sugar |
1/2 tsp | baking powder |
1 tsp | cinnamon |
1 cup | plain flour |
125g | unsalted butter (melted) |
pinch | salt |
Method
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees c
- Create apple filling:
In a bowl mix the apple filling ingredients
- 1kg of apple cubes
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Create crumble topping:
Mix the following in a bowl until clumps form:
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 125 g melted unsalted butter
- pinch of salt
- In a baking dish or pie tin,
- Spread the apple filling mix evenly
- cover with the crumble topping
- Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
- Stand for 10 minutes before serving.
